Random Fan Page Evaluation

I was sitting at my computer today, looking through all of the fan pages on Facebook.  There are quite a few of them.  It would seem that there is a fan page for almost anything that you can imagine.  I have quite a few interests so I thought I would try to stump Facebook and search for a fan page that doesn’t exist.  Lt me see, what obscure interests do I have?  Well let’s see.  I am a 47 year old African American male.  Let me see if there is a fan page for my grade school.  I looked for the Catholic grade school where I attended grade school, and sure enough there it is.  Ok that probably wasn’t obscure enough. Hmm… I see there are even quite a few of my old grade school friends there who have made posts.  I will get back to them

Ok.  I’m sure this is a softball.  I enjoy fantasy art.  Yes there is a fan page for that.  Photography is pretty easy.  I looked up several of my favorite photography suppliers and they all have fan pages, plus some of the photographers that I love and admire.  All have  fan pages.  Is there anything that doesn’t have a fan page?  Ok.  Here is one.  I would like to get a Bernese Mountain Dog.  Yep the Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America has a fan page.  I will keep that one in mind.  How about a fan page for Phoenix Light Rail commuters.  Let me see… yep they have one.  Looks pretty informative too.  Ok, I’ve got to make this hard.  What is something  I am interested in that won’t have a fan page?  Ok, there is a big hole in Bisbee Arizona that you can see from space (or so they say).  Is there a fan page for that? Wow!! There is even a fan page for the Lavender Pit (What I call the big hole) in Bisbee, Arizona.  Now to be accurate only four people like it.  But there is a fan page.  Ok, here is one.  Maybe this will stump Facebook.  There is a company in Tempe that sells “pirate supplies”, yes “pirate supplies”.  I think it is called PurePirate.  Well what do you know.  There is a fan page for PurePirate.com  who woulda knew?  Even a fan page for a company that sells “pirate supplies”

Facebook has become the premier way to promote oneself.  So I guess if you want to promote anything you have to make sure you have a fan page on Facebook.  In the previous post I have some info on how to make better fan pages.  Read those posts over again and put what I suggested into practice.  If a person want to promote, using Facebook fan pages is the way to go!

SUREFIRE FACEBOOK PAGES; Tip #4

TIP #4:  LESS IS MORE

Regular posts and fresh and frequent Newsfeeds is a “no-brainer” to build, boost and maintain your numbers. BUT more than two posts per day is too much (unless you’re a media company) and bombarding your followers with posts may make you seem needy/desperate and, according to research, less relevant to fans. Your best pointers to keep in mind here are:

“More than two posts per day is too much!”

  • Post 2 or 3 updates at most per day
  • Schedule your posts with enough time in between to your audience time to process and engage
  • Try sending your updates/shares at the same times everyday

LAST BUT DEFINITELY NOT LEAST! HAVE FUN &  DON’T FORGET WHAT YOU CAME FOR!

And while you’re having such a blast entertaining and intriguing your audience, remember what you’re there for…. Sell your goods!

TIP#3: CASH IN ON CONTENT

How? Easy! Provide diverse content – work at keeping your posts fresh and entertaining. Don’t keep it all to yourself! SHARE stories, pictures, videos. Scandalize if you must! (Err… just take care because scandalizing is not the same as mud-slinging, which never really works in your favor!)

I’m talking about that: “How To Get Promoted within Two Weeks of Landing the Job,” article that gets shared and forwarded and re-posted- YES – that goes viral on every professional network dreamed of! Captivating content is what catches your audiences and keeps them coming to your Facebook Page, just as it’s critical to your SEO campaigns. So make them look and keep them mesmerized by mixing up the freshest posts and sizzling content. Give your viewers:

  • Fabulous photo updates
  • Entertaining Youtube videos
  • Great blog post shares [like this one, for example ;-)]]
  • Witty, REAL, status updates (not too personal though - but, whatever works for your audience though!)

TIP #1: PIMP YOUR LANDING PAGE

To make better fan pages, start by optimizing your landing page for your audience by pimping it to maximize its pulling power! You’ve created a presence so now it’s time to step up and bring it – blaze you logo boldly on your landing page to start off and set it off with graphics and visuals that accentuate and amplify its message! No use having a deathly-drab landing page that confounds the living daylights out of your audience as to what exactly it is that who on earth is doing there! Make it clear, clever and charismatic.
